1919 Issue. (Besonders Kärntner Kreuz für Tapferkeit I. Klasse). Silvered bronze with obverse bearing German “kärntner fieiheitskampf 1918-1919” (Translation: carinthian freedom struggle), feather detailing in each quadrant, reverse bearing German “für Japferkeit” (Translation: for freedom), measuring 38.6mm (w) x 38.45mm (h) and weighing 26.9 grams, worn however remains very fine.
1919 Issue. (Besonders Kärntner Kreuz für Tapferkeit II. Klasse) Zinc with obverse bearing German “kärntner fieiheitskampf 1918-1919” (Translation: carinthian freedom struggle), feather detailing in each quadrant, reverse bearing German “für Japferkeit” (Translation: for freedom), measuring 33.40mm (w) x 38.43mm (h) and weighing 14.8 grams, original ribbon, in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: This cross was founded by the Carinthian Freedom Fighters, who organized and fought against Yugoslav incursion in southern Carinthia after the end of World War I.
