Finland, Republic. A 1941-1943 Eismeerfront Cross
Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with dark blue enameled arms and with a central white enameled disc set within a circular oak leaf wreath, the disc bearing Finnish and German flags joined together in the centre by a Finnish national emblem, situated above dates “1941-1943”, with a mobile swastika set into the centrepiece with its arms emanating from between the quadrants, the former bearing inscriptions of “PETSAMO, LITSA, LIINAHAMARI, KIRKKONIEMI”, the reverse bearing a central threaded lug retaining an original backplate, unmarked, measuring 36.67 mm (w) x 37.23 mm (h), weighing 16.5 grams, flecking and scratching is evident throughout the enamels and most of the silver finish has been lost, in very fine condition.
