An award document for a Finnish Cross of Liberty, III Class with swords, named to “YRJÖ URTO”, constructed of white paper stock with black ink, the obverse topped by a black-and-white depiction of the Finnish Cross of Liberty, above an inscription of “ISÄNMAAN NIMESSÄ JA SUOMEN PUOLUSTUSVOIMAIN YLIPÄÄLLIKKÖNÄ ANNAN ANSIOSTANNE SODASSA TEILLE KAPTEENI YRJÖ URTO III LUOKAN VAPAUDENRISTIN MIEKKOINEEN TAMMENLEHVÄN KERA, PÄÄMAJASSA HELMI KUUN 19 P: NÄ 1942 SOTAMARSALKKA MANNERHEIM” (“IN THE NAME OF THE FATHERLAND, AND AS COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES, FOR MERIT IN WAR I AWARD CAPTAIN YRJÖ URTO THE CROSS OF LIBERTY, III CLASS WITH SWORDS, THIS 19 JUNE 1942, FIELD MARSHAL MANNERHEIM”, with the Mannerheim signature handwritten in blue ink, the bottom overlaid by a diamond-shaped piece of paper bearing an embossed coat of arms of the Finnish Ministry of Defence, measuring 260 mm (w) x 370 mm (h), when viewed through a light source from the obverse a watermark consisting of a depiction of the award flanked by a date of “1941” is visible, a small discolouration is visible to the upper right side when viewed from the obverse, in overall extremely fine condition.
