A First War French Foreign Legion Tunic, 1914
Fabricated of thick blue wool, with a cotton interior. Seven button tunic, with 4 buttons remaining. Reinforced collar, marked 1 in felt. The exterior exhibits wear, primarily on the collar, however it is free of mothing. The interior is well marked, FRANCOIS, PARIS - U.G.I - 119 - Dated 15.10.1914. Nice leather field repair on interior left with hand stitching. Two interior pockets. Soiling on the interior collar and underarms. Interestingly, this tunic was later purchased as surplus by Warner Bros. studio and marked as such in the left interior underarm. Moreover, it has been determined that it was likely used in the 1929 production of The Desert Song.
