France, I Empire. A Bust of Napoleon Bonaparte Statuette
In solid bronze, illustrating the bust of Napoleon Bonaparte wearing the badge of the Order of the Legion of Honour and its associated breast star on his left breast, his hat worn in the traditional "en bataille" style (that is, with the corns parallel to the shoulders, while most of his officers wore their hats "en colonne", that is, perpendicular to the shoulders), with large epaulettes on both shoulders, the bust supported by a pedestal with a stepped base and bearing a ribbon banner inscribed "Napoleon" on its front, the ends of the ribbon banner wrapped around both sides of the pedestal, engraver marked "Buitenaux" on the right side, independent copper plate affixed to the reverse illustrating an inverted horseshoe bearing the inscription "BRONZE KANORA DÉPOSÉ", the plate partially covering the inscription "Bronze Kanora", with "depose" below on the recessed stepped base, measuring 104 mm in width x 66.5 mm in depth x 190 mm in height, the bottom slightly undulated and not allowing the statuette to sit flat, with one edge nick visible on the left side of the stepped base on the bottom, near extremely fine.
