France, I Empire. A Napoleon Bonaparte Pedestal Statuette
In brass, three-piece construction, illustrating Napoleon Bonaparte in a standing position upon a cylindrical pedestal, his right leg slightly forward, his arms crossed, his hat worn in the traditional "en bataille" style (that is, with the corns parallel to the shoulders, while most of his officers wore their hats "en colonne", that is, perpendicular to the shoulders), backed by a textured rock and standing upon a circular disk, both of which are silvered, the base of the pedestal with an intricate design running around the circumference just above its stepped base, a magnetic metal disk placed within the stepped base and incorporating a nut and screw combination that secures the statuette in place, measuring 45.7 mm in diameter at the base x 122 mm in height, exhibiting scattered contact marks and surface wear on both the standing Napoleon and the cylindrical pedestal base, along with surface rust on the metal plate within the stepped base, very fine.
