France, I Empire. A Napoleon Bonaparte Standing Upon a Column Statuette with Thermometer
In brass, multi-piece construction, illustrating Napoleon Bonaparte standing upon a corinthian style column, the shaft of the column bearing a functioning glass thermometer fed through two wire loops on the exterior, the shaft marked with gradations in tens rising from 0 to 40 on the left side of the column itself, with "E.P." in italics on the right side opposite the 0 position and "Réaumur." in running script in the centre above the gradations, the box-shaped base bearing a wreath of laurel leaves on its front, with a nut and screw combination visible on the underside of the base and securing the statuette in place, measuring 45 mm in width x 44.8 mm in depth x 220 mm in height, exhibiting spotting and light contact, very fine.
