France, I Empire. A Seated Napoleon Bonaparte Statuette
In patinated cast iron, magnetic, three-piece construction, illustrating Napoleon Bonaparte in a seated position, sitting backwards on a chair, his arms crossed and resting upon the arch of the upper slat of the chair, his hat worn in the traditional "en bataille" style (that is, with the corns parallel to the shoulders, while most of his officers wore their hats "en colonne", that is, perpendicular to the shoulders), with large epaulettes on both shoulders, the rectangular base incorporating a design consisting of a series of repeating waves on all four sides, the underside of the base hollow, with a dual nut and screw combination visible and securing the statuette in place, measuring 93.8 mm in width x 74.3 mm in depth x 122 mm in height, extremely fine.
