Three-piece construction, in bronze gilt with red enamels, a forest green enamelled disk placed between the two bronze gilt plates, maker marked "A.B." (Arthus Bertrand) on the obverse, measuring 40 mm (w) x 46.5 mm (h), the red enamelled text "MERITE DU TRAVAIL" on the obverse exhibiting slight discolouration, on its original shortened neck ribbon, extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of Merit for Commerce and Industry was instituted on January 21, 1957 and discontinued on January 1, 1964, replaced by the National Order of Merit. It was awarded for meritorious services to commerce and industry, in three grades: Commander, Officer and Knight.
