A 1945 French Aeronautical Medal
Bronze gilt with red enamels, cornucopia hallmarked and marked "BR" (bronze) on the reverse, 27 mm x 33.2 mm, hinged suspension with a star between outstretched wings, original ribbon with dual prong pinback, intact enamels, extremely fine. Footnote: The medal was created on February 14, 1945 and may be awarded to both military and civilians for valour or for exceptional service to the world of aeronautics. Awards are controlled by a Council of eminent persons, including the Officer Commanding the French Air Force, and are limited to no more than 250 per year.
