France, Italy. A President of the Italian Republic Napoleon Bonaparte Medal 1803
In bronze, obverse illustrating the left-facing bust of Napoleon Bonaparte, surrounded by the Latin inscription "NAPOLEONE IMP. DEI FR. RE D'ITAL. PROT. DELLA CONF. DEL RENO" and engraver marked "H. VASSALLO F", reverse with its image and inscription erased but "ET FOVET" remains faintly legible, measuring 44.3 mm in diameter, edge nicks, poor.
Footnote: The Italian Republic (Repubblica Italiana) was a short-lived (1802-1805) republic located in Northern Italy. Napoleon Bonaparte served as president and its capital was Milan.
