In silver, hallmarked with a lamp on the edge, obverse illustrating the left-facing bust of King Louis Philippe I, surrounded by the inscription "LOUIS PHILIPPE I ROI DES FRANÇAIS" and engraver marked "MONTAGNY. F.", reverse inscribed in raised text "A / SUMMERS / (JOHN) / MARIN ANGLAIS / POUR AVOIR CONCOURU A SAUVER", within an open-ended wreath of oak leaves, surrounded by the inscription "MINISTERE DE LA MARINE ET DES COLONIES" and "(PINGRET)", measuring 41.5 mm in diameter, edge nicks, bruised, red anchor clasp affixed to its original tri-colour ribbon, near extremely fine.
