Footnote: The third Paris World's Fair of 1878, called the Exposition Universelle, was held from May 1 to November 10, 1878. It celebrated the recovery of France after the Franco-Prussian War of 1870. The Exposition Universelle of 1889 was a World's Fair held in Paris, from May 6 to October 31, 1889. It was held during the year of the 100th anniversary of the storming of the Bastille, an event considered symbolic of the beginning of the French Revolution.
