A Franco-Prussian War French Padre's Crucifix
Multi-piece construction, bronze and silvered bronze with blue and red enamels, on a silver cross base, illustrating an ornate cross placed upon a traditional cross base, the ornate cross with the coat-of-arms of the provinces of Alsace and Lorraine at the junction, flanked by disks representing the Franco-Prussian War, inscribed "1870" at the left and "1871" at the right, the arms surmounted by two crowns and bar inscribed "FRANCE", a disk at the base of the crown inscribed "AL", 54 mm x 79 mm, chipping and loss evident in the blue enamels of the "FRANCE" bar, near extremely fine.
