France, Vichy. A Vichy Diplomatic Dress Uniform, by H. Givord
(Waffenrock). A Vichy Government diplomatic dress uniform, consisting of a tunic constructed of black wool, with nine silvered buttons (maker marked Maurice Bourdon Paris) positioned down the front of the tunic, meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes, the stiff collar is covered in machine-embroidered gold bullion wire in ornate oak leaf and acorn designs, the inside right collar has three metal hooks meeting an equal number metal loops on the left allowing the collar to sit flush with the neck, a similar gold bullion wire oak leaf and acorn design appears on the cuffs of both sleeves, the interior is lined with black rayon, the sleeves are lined with black-and-white-striped rayon material, the interior of the tunic contains two pockets on each breast, the left pocket displays the label for H. GIVORD MAÎTRE-TAILLEUR ST. BRIEUC, the tunic measures 44 cm across the shoulders, 89 cm in length, and 61 cm in the arms, and is in overall very fine condition, accompanied by the matching trousers, constructed of black wool, with a button-up fly with three buttons meeting an equal number of reinforced button holes, and metal loops at the waistline, with a stripe of machine-embroidered oak leaf designs running down each leg, there are diagonal-slit pockets on each side of the front, there are two horizontal-slit pockets on both sides of the rear of the pants, the interior is lined around the waist in a blue and black striped pattern, the trousers measure 41.5 cm at the waist and 108.5 cm in length, and in overall very fine condition.
