Germany, SS. A 7th SS Volunteer Mountain Division Prinz Eugen Plaque by Oskar Witt
Cast bronze, the plaque and base together weighing approximately 3,700 grams, very high relief, illustrating a German right arm protruding from a mountainous area, its hand forming a clenched fist and thrusting against an approaching Allied tank, the left side of the tank exhibiting a large crack from the blow of the fist which extends to the mid-point of the tank, engraver marked "OSKAR WITT - HAMBURG" along the bottom edge and marked with the 7th SS Volunteer Mountain Division "Prinz Eugen" insignia on the right side of the mountainous outcrop, 170 mm x 220 mm x 35 mm in height, mounted to a 225 mm x 275 mm x 21 mm thick, polished, speckled marble base, green felt protective pad on the bottom, extremely fine.
