Buckle in nickel-plated steel, magnetic, consisting of a two-piece construction, the left side with a circular plate exhibiting an outer ring, illustrating an oak leaf on either side, inscribed "ALLZEIT" above and "BEREIT" below (Always Prepared), while the right side has a central interlocking tab illustrating a fleur-de-lis on a pebbled background, the bar adjoining the tab maker marked with the "OLC" (Overhoff & Cie, Ludenscheid) insignia, the buckle measuring 44 mm x 77.7 mm when locked together. Belt is composed of three pieces, fabricated from a thick leather with a smooth finished black upper, raw underside, the pieces joined at two locations with large nickel-plated steel O-rings, a single row of eight holes for length adjustment on the right end, which is fed through the one-claw buckle affixed to the right side of the interlocking tab, the O-rings and left side circular plate of the buckle held in place by two rivets each where the belt wraps around to the reverse in five locations, the belt measuring 29 mm in width, with the three sections of the belt measuring 270 mm, 390 mm and 240 mm, respectively. Very light contact on the buckle, wear and crazing evident on the upper of the belt, especially in the section of the belt housing the length adjustment holes, light soiling on the reverse. Better than very fine. This particular belt with buckle is illustrated on page 302 of "Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich, Revised Edition" by John R. Angolia and came from his personal collection.
Footnote: From the collection of approximately 900 German buckles accumulated by John R. Angolia, who start collecting buckles, belts and brocades from 1944 until around 1990; most of the buckles were obtained from the American and German veterans; most of these buckles present a core of Angolia’s book “Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich”, published in 2001.
