A Fine Second War Tropical Afrika Korps Belt with Buckle by Richard Sieper & Söhne
Buckle is die-stamped steel, magnetic, with an olive drab painted finish, marked R. S. & S. (Richard Sieper & Söhne), embossed Wehrmacht eagle with motto "Gott Mit Uns" (God With Us), 49.2 mm x 64.3 mm, light contact, extremely fine. With olive-green colored webbed belt, stamped with maker’s mark (L.L.G. (?). 1942), and also stamped “100” (indicating length), while webbed tongue is stamped “307”; a very fine quality belt, extremely fine condition. An excellent example of Tropical Afrika Korps Belt with Buckle. From the collection of approximately 900 German buckles accumulated by John R. Angolia, who start collecting buckles, belts and brocades from 1944 until around 1990; most of the buckles were obtained from the American and German veterans; most of these buckles present a core of Angolia’s book “Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich”, published in 2001.
