Germany. A Mixed Lot of Belt Buckles
(Gürtelschnallen). A mixed lot of four belt buckles, including an Imperial Heer EM/NCO’s buckle, constructed of partially silvered bronze, the obverse bearing a raised crown, within a ribbed ring bearing an inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD WITH US”) and laurel branches, the reverse with a loop and swivel attachment claws, unmarked, measuring 62 mm (w) x 47 mm (h), in very fine condition; an Imperial Fire Brigade Enlisted buckle, constructed of partially silvered bronze, the obverse bearing a central Fire Brigade insignia, within a ribbed ring bearing an inscription of “GOTT ZUR EHR DEM NÄCHSTEN ZUR WEHR” (“TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND DEFENCE OF OUR NEIGHBOURS”), the reverse with a loop and swivel attachment claws, unmarked, measuring 62 mm (w) x 48 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition; a Reichswehr-style Heer belt buckle, constructed of silvered bronze, the obvere bearing a raised Reichswehr-style German national eagle, within a ribbed ring bearing an inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD WITH US”) and laurel branches, the reverse with a loop and swivel attachment prongs, the latter retaining a period original brown leather strap, maker marked “OVERHOFF & CIE, LÜDENSCHEID”, with a manufacture date of “1935”, measuring 62 mm (w) x 48 mm (h), in extremely fine condition, and; an Ordnungspolizei EM/NCO’s belt buckle, constructed of aluminum, the obverse bearing a central raised swastika, circumscribed by an inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD WITH US”) and oak leaf branches, the reverse with a loop and swivel attachment claws, the latter retaining a period original brown leather strap, maker marked “PAULMANN & CRONE, LÜDENSCHEID”, around a manufacture date of “1936”, measuring 65 mm (w) x 49 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
