Germany, Heer. An EM/NCO’s Belt Buckle, with Allied Veteran’s Commemorative Inscription
(Heer Gürtelschnalle). Constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a central raised crown, set within a ribbed ring bearing a raised inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD WITH US”) and laurel branches, the four corners bearing a finely-detailed etched inscription of “WORLD WAR 1914-1918”, presumably added by an Allied veteran to a buckle claimed as a war souvenir, the reverse with a loop and swivel attachment claws, unmarked, measuring 62 mm (w) x 48 mm (h), a unique example in near extremely fine condition.
