(Heer Tropen Gürtel mit Schnalle für Mannschaften). A matching Heer EM/NCO’s belt and buckle set, consisting of:
1. A buckle, constructed of olive drab-painted magnetic metal, the obverse bearing a raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, set within a ribbed ring bearing a raised inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD WITH US”) and oak leaf branches, the reverse with a loop and swivel attachment claws retaining a period original brown leather strap, the latter stamped with a maker’s mark of “R. SIEPER & SÖHNE, LÜDENSCHEID” circumscribing a manufacture date of “1940”, with the logo of the same maker stamped directly onto the reverse of the buckle, the obverse swastika has been crudely ground out for postwar wear, measuring 64 mm (w) x 49 mm (h), in better than very fine condition.
2. A belt, constructed of classic webbed olive-drab canvas, with one end stitched into a loop to accommodate a magnetic metal clip, the opposite end bearing a reverse brown leather tongue perforated with seven sets of dual eyelets for an adjustable fit, with illegible black ink marks stamped onto the reverse of each end, measuring 4.5 cm (w) x 90 cm (l), in extremely fine condition. A great example.
