Germany. A National Forestry Service Official’s Dress Brocade Belt with Buckle by Assmann
An example of an extremely well preserved National Forestry Service Official’s dress brocade belt with buckle; the buckle constructed of aluminum with a silver finish, illustrating a leftward-facing open-winged eagle, with its talons gripping a wreathed mobile swastika on a raised pebbled field, surrounded by an extremely well detailed oak wreath, with a crossed ribbon and acorns on the bottom of the wreath; the reverse with a secondary plate crimped into place with a catch and attachment loop for the belt, both in aluminum; maker marked with the stylized logo of F.W. & Assmann & Söhne on the reverse; measuring 54 mm (w) x 50 mm (h); with its matching brocade dress belt; constructed of very fine machine embroidery with two rows of forest green embroidery on the upper, with forest green sides and underside; the belt fed through the loop on the buckle, wrapping around and stitched in place on the reverse; with a thick smooth finished butterscotch-coloured leather tab stitched in place to the underside, with seven rows of double-pierced holes for length adjustment, with “110” written on the leather for sizing; measuring 1144 mm (w) x 46 mm (h); with considerable mothing visible on the underside; in overall near extremely fine condition.
