Germany. A DRK (German Red Cross) Officer’s Buckle & Belt
A well preserved example of a third reich period DRK (Deutsches Rotes Kreuz/German Red Cross) Officer’s belt and buckle; the buckle constructed of silver finished aluminum; the obverse consisting of a raised pebbled field with a raised national German eagle with a mobile swastika on its chest, clutching a cross of the red cross, surrounded by an open-ended laurel wreath that is tied-together at the bottom; the reverse plain, maker marked “Ges. Gesch.” and “2” for “Manufacturing Contract 2” on the reverse; attached to its black leather tab; measuring 50 mm in diameter; accompanied by its thick black leather service belt; with a smooth finished black upper and the reverse with a natural caramel coloured finish; one end with an aluminum receiver clip stitched into place, the other with an additional leather tab with five rows of two vertically oriented holes for length adjustment of the belt (appears to be torn and missing two sets of holes); marked with a cross, then “Z.D.V.R.K” and another cross; measuring 4.3 cm (w) x 120.2 cm (h); a worn example in overall near extremely fine condition.
