Germany, Third Reich. A Postschutz Belt and Buckle
(Postschutz Gürtel mit Schnalle). A rare and matching Postschutz belt and buckle set, with the former constructed of pressed dark brown leather, the reverse completing at one end in an integral magnetic metal clip, the opposite end featuring a reverse leather tongue perforated with eight sets of dual eyelets for an adjustable fit, unmarked, measuring 4.5 cm (w) x 87 cm (l), demonstrating moderate and age-appropriate material fatigue, in better than very fine condition; the latter constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse bearing a central raised Reichspost-style German national eagle clutching lightning bolts and a wreathed mobile swastika, set within a circular ribbed ring bearing an inscription of “REICHSPOST”, in turn situated over a pebbled background, the reverse with a loop and swivel attachment claws, the latter retaining a brown leather strap bearing an embossed maker’s mark of “BERNH. HAARMANN, METALLWARENFARBIK, LÜDENSCHEID” with a manufacture date of “1935”, measuring 62 mm (w) x 48 mm (h), a scarce set in extremely fine condition.
