Germany, Kriegsmarine. An Officer’s Brocade and Buckle, with Veteran-Assembled Buttons and Insignia
(Kriegsmarine Gürtel mit Schnalle). An interesting Kriegsmarine Officer’s brocade and buckle, the former constructed of a dark navy blue wool base, topped by a layer of silver aluminum wire, in turn bisected by dark navy blue embroidered tresses, one end retaining a gilded aluminum loop, the opposite end featuring a clip and eyelet, pinned and stitched with 10 assorted Kriegsmarine cyphers, metal cockades, cap eagles, and uniform buttons, unmarked, measuring 5 cm (w) x 88 cm (l), demonstrating extensive mothing to the reverse liner and other material fatigue consistent with age and souvenir modification, in very fine condition; the latter constructed of gilded aluminum, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath with cut-out edges, bearing a central raised fouled anchor on a ribbed background, unmarked, measuring 60 mm (w) x 60 mm (h), demonstrating slight loss of finish to high-contact points, in extremely fine condition.
