Germany, Luftwaffe. An EM/NCO’s Belt and Buckle
(Luftwaffe Gürtel mit Schnalle). A Luftwaffe EM/NCO’s belt and buckle, the former constructed of pressed black leather, one end stitched into a loop to accommodate an integral magnetic metal clip, opposite end retaining a reverse leather tongue perforated with seven eyelets for an adjustable fit, the clip end bearing a reverse embossed maker’s mark of “WITTKOP & CO., BIELEFELD” and manufacture date of “1942”, the tongue end bearing a reverse stamped number of “95”, measuring 42 mm (w) x 955 mm (l), with age-appropriate material fatigue evident, in very fine condition; the buckle constructed of magnetic metal, the obverse bearing a raised Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika on a pebbled background, within an oval laurel leaf wreath joined together at the bottom by ribbon, the reverse with a loop and swivel attachment prongs, bearing in illegible maker’s mark, measuring 65 mm (w) x 48 mm (h), with some oxidation and loss of finish evident, in very fine condition.
