Consists of three gilt brass pieces, with handwritten coding under each piece on the board: the buckle measuring 53.5 mm x 69 mm and coded "22 233 SI", the bar measuring 10.7 mm x 58.5 mm and coded "22 235 SI/58", the end piece measuring 29.5 mm x 54.2 mm and coded "22 234 SI". All three pieces are mounted via string to a 95 mm x 185 mm cardboard, with "Assmann" marked on the reverse in pencil. Light contact on the brass pieces, ghosting on the upper of the cardboard. Extremely fine. This particular sales sample board is illustrated on page 420 of "Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich, Revised Edition" by John R. Angolia and came from his personal collection.
Footnote: From the collection of approximately 900 German buckles accumulated by John R. Angolia, who start collecting buckles, belts and brocades from 1944 until around 1990; most of the buckles were obtained from the American and German veterans; most of these buckles present a core of Angolia’s book “Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich”, published in 2001.
