It measures 165x104mm, extremely fine condition considering its age, with folding creases; It was awarded “Im Felde”, in the field, on July 19, 1918. The recipient is a “Gefreiter”, Lance Corporal, his first name is Heinrich, the last name has been made unreadable. It could be Linnenkamp. He served in the Landsturm Infantry Regiment 36, 3rd Company.The document is signed by the regiment commander, rank of major. The name could be Weizorek or Wiezorek.
Footnote: Regiment 36 was part of the 5th Landwehr Division which fought at the Western front during the entirety of the First World War. During the time of Linnenkamp being wounded, it fought in static combat between the rivers Maas and Mosel, outside of Verdun in the woods of Ailly and Apremont.
