A 1940 Reich Minister for Science, Education, and National Culture Appointment Document
Certificate of appointment to extracurricular professor, 25.5 x 35.4 cm; Date of item: 1940; Condition: very good, signs of aging; A certificate that, “in the name of the Führer”, appoints Dr. med. Habil. Rudolf Rittmann in Innsbruck, Austria, to extracurricular professor. It serves as a reminder that Rittmann should remain true to his office oath and not disappoint. It also states that he can be sure of the special protection of the Führer. It is signed in Berlin on Apr 25th, 1940 in the name of the Reich Minister for Science, Education, and National Culture by state secretary Werner Zschintzsch. On the bottom left there is a stamp showing a wreath of oak leaves with an imperial eagle inside, standing on another wreath with a swastika inside. The certificate has 4 pages, however except for page 1 they are blank. Inside there are two sheets of paper, both written by typewriter. One is an identical copy of the certificate. The other one personally addresses Rittmann. It tells him that the appointment does not give him claims towards a full position and that nothing about his service has changed.
