A 1941 German Woman's Magazine FrauenWarte Cover
Front & back cover of Nazi women’s magazine FrauenWarte, measures 24.3 x 31.4 cm. Date of item: 1941. Condition: good, signs of aging, slight rip. The front and back cover of the Nazi magazine “FrauenWarte” (Women’s Look-out), the “only official party magazine for women”. The inside pages are missing. It is magazine no. 17, 9th issue, from Mar 1941. The cover shows the drawing of a Wehrmacht soldier’s head and shoulders, wearing a helmet. Underneath it reads: “By the blood of the hero the heart of the world pounds, the reward of the hero is the fatherland”. The inside of the front cover shows a picture of a leafless tree and two soldier graves underneath. The text reads: “Eternally rules the law of “Die and Become again!”, never fulfilled greater than in the sacrifice of the fallen, from whose seed blossoms up a new realm, by whose devotion a nation lives. Eternally stands above all work into the future this law.” The picture is identified as a linoleum cut by Georg Sluyterman von Langeweyde (1903–1978), a graphic artist and painter. The inside of the back cover features advertising. Half of the page is an ad for women to join the German Red Cross. The back cover features yet more advertising.
