A framed certificate for a boy named Joachim Ussig (?) of the Hitler Youth, district of Berlin (3), banner 129, stating that he has participated in the Unterführerfünfkampf (lower leader pentathlon) in 1941, reaching 2831.5 points. The certificate is dated to Berlin, June 29th, 1941 and signed by Oberbannführer Bayer.
The Unterführerfünfkampf was a test of sporting achievement, introduced on May 6th, 1938. The following ranks took part: Kameradschaftsführer, Jungenschaftschaftsführer, Scharführer, and Jungzugführer (under the age of 30), and Oberscharführer, Gefolgschaftsführer, Fähnleinführer, Stammführer, and Jungstammführer (under the age of 18). The participants were split into two age groups: 14 to 17 and 18 to 29. The required minimum points total was 2,000 for age group 14 to 17 and 2,500 for age group 18 to 29. The competition had to be completed by August 15th in any given year. The events were 100m sprint, long-jump, high-jump, indian club throwing, and shot-putt.
