Next to short news stories it features an article about General Thomsen (misspelled Thomson in the title) in celebration of his 75th birthday. Hermann von der Lieth-Thomsen (1867–1942) was a military aviation pioneer and founding father. During WWI he served first as Chief of Field Air Forces, then as Chief of Staff of the Commanding General of the Air Services. In 1917 Thomsen was awarded the Pour le Merite, even though as a senior commander he wasn’t actively involved in air combat. He resigned as a colonel in 1919. However, he was actively working on the secret rebuilding of a German air force during the 1920s. During this time he also developed serious eye problems that eventually led to blindness, so that he was forced to retire in 1928 to the island of Sylt. When the Luftwaffe was established in 1935, despite his blindness he came out of retirement and served as Head of the Military Science at the Reich Air Ministry. There he was promoted to general. He died less than half a year after his 75th birthday. The back page features classified ads.
