What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

A 1943 Award Document for the Lappland Shield

Certificate of non-Jewish ancestry, excerpt of defaulter book, and certificate of award of Lappland Shield, 21 x 13.7 / 9.7 x 13.8 / 14.8 x 20.8 cm; Date of item: 1943/45; Condition: very good, signs of aging; Three documents concerning Sergeant Karl Schmidt. The first document states that he has 0% Jewish ancestors, making him not mixed-blooded; The second document from Jan 28th, 1943 places Schmidt in the 2nd convalescent company I.E.B. 484. It is an excerpt of the defaulter book, stating that he was awarded no penalties; The third document is a certificate stating that in the name of the commander-in-chief of the 20th Mountain Army, General of the Mountain Troops Böhme, Sergeant Karl Schmidt of the 2. Company of the Reserve Battalion 818 is awarded the Lappland Shield. Place and date is Bogstad (northwest Oslo, Norway), July 12th, 1945, signed by Major and Commander of the battalion Förster; The award was given out to soldiers having served in the Lappland region (northern Norway, Sweden, and Finland) for six months. It was officially proposed as an award in Feb 1945, but wasn’t implicated before the end of the war in May 1945. However, the British who controlled Norway after the Germans surrender allowed the German prisoners of war to wear badges. The Lappland Shield was therefore awarded after the end of the war, which explains the date on this certificate.
