A 1945 Wehrmacht Discharge Certificate Signed by Major General Kittel
Discharge certificate from Wehrmacht Adolf Lenz, 20.9 x 14.8 cm. Date of item: 1945. Condition: good, signs of aging, folding creases coming apart. A discharge certificate for employee Adolf Lenz from the High Command of the Wehrmacht that states that starting on Apr 30th, 1945 he is no longer working for them and receives several compensations (in the form of money, food, food stamps, and tobacco, but no soap or washing powder). It is dated May 1st, 1945, to O.U., which stands for Ortsunterkunft (local billet), and signed by Major General Kittel. On the back several stamps and handwritten information confirm where Lenz was during May and June 1945 and that he received food. Not much is decipherable, except for Hartpenning (Bavaria) and Stadtroda (Thuringia). Lenz was employed in the Heereswaffenamt (Army Weapons Agency), department group weapons. They were responsible for development, testing, and production of weapons for the war.
