A Birthday Letter Addressed to the Führer from a German Prisoner of War in Texas

This is a very unique and a one-of-a-kind example of a birthday letter addressed to Adolf Hitler, written by a German prisoner of war, named Obergefreiter Johann Epting. The letter is addressed to “An den Führer (To the Führer) Adolf Hitler, Obersalzberg-Berchtesgaden, Germany-Deutschland” with a return address of “Camp Swift Texas CO. 5. GPO Box 20. New York, N.Y. U.S.A”. Translated, the letter reads “My Führer (Texas, March 16th, 44) - For your birthday I am sending you the most cordial congratulations from captivity, and wish that you will able to stay with the German Volk and the Reich for a long time. With a German greeting, Obergefreiter Johann Epting”. On the obverse, the POW post card features a date stamp, a “Ab” stamp, and a “10607 U.S Censor” stamp. The letter measures 140 mm x 83 mm, and is overall in extremely fine condition. (C:100)
