A Bronze Grade DRL Badge with Award Booklet
A Bronze grade DRL badge (Deutsches Reichs-Sportabzeichen, German Reich Sports Badge) (maker marked L. Chr. Lauer, Nürnberg-Berlin) with stickpin (maker marked Wernstein Jena) and the official achievement book, 16 pages, measuring 140x221mm, extremely fine condition with some age-related discolouration on the cover. The badge is awarded by the police department of Harburg-Wilhelmsburg, today a part of the city of Hamburg. The book is signed by a Captain of the police, the name is indecipherable. There are two stamps, one from 1937, and one from 1940. However, the badge was awarded on July 24, 1937. The book contains a facsimile of Reich Sports Leader Hans von Tschammer und Osten (1887–1943). The recipient’s name is barely decipherable, but it could be Ewald Woiwod. He was born on December 16, 1913. The book gives detailed information about the official regulations that have to be met in order to receive the DRL badge, as well as the personal achievements of Woiwod.
