What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

This is a Luftfahrschein für Flugzeugführer of the Third Reich. It belonged to Wolfgang Stieda, and features a photograph on the first page with the date of issue being February 25, 1937 in Hamburg, with three authentication stamps of the Luftamt Hamburg (Aviation Office Hamburg). The second page contains basic information such as booklet number (151), Maiden Name (Stieda), First Name (Wolfgang), Date of Birth (6.5.1910), Place of Birth (Riga), Occupation (Illegible); Nationality (German Reich), Residence (Bremen), and Street Name (Schwachhauser-Hausstr. 85). The fourth and fifth pages contain licensing stamps as of February 25, 1937 until May 21, 1945 - this allowed Wolfgang Stieda to own and operate “einfache/simple” aeroplanes. Notably, pages fourteen and fifteen states that between June 7th 1937 and May 6, 1941, Wolfgang Stieda was also permitted to perform stunt flights publicly. The licence booklet contains a total of sixteen pages, measures 105 mm x 149 mm and is very well preserved with all pages intact. Two hole-punched holes on the front cover. The photograph depicts Wolfgang Stieda sitting in the cockpit of a biplane with his girlfriend/fiance/wife standing by his side. The photograph measures 119 mm x 89 mm and is also very well preserved. Overall excellent condition.
