A Document Group to First & Second War Pilot Oberleutnant Helmuth Wendel
A transcript of a certificate, measuring 211x297mm, near extremely fine condition with creasing and two folding creases. It states that Oberleutnant der Reserve (Senior Lieutenant of the Reserve) Helmuth Wendel was awarded the Flugzeugbeobachterabzeichen (Observer Badge) in Berlin on June 3, 1936. The transcript is dated to Dresden Airport on June 8, 1936 and signed by a Reich Bank Inspector, the name could be Teichert or similar.
A letter to Wendel, measuring 209x297mm, extremely fine condition with two folding creases, dated to February 6, 1937. It answers his request from February 4 to be awarded the Combined Pilot & Observer Badge. He is informed that his request can only be processed on June 1, since he must have been awarded either the Observer or the Pilot Badge at least a year before he can get the combined badge. The transcript was apparently made specifically for this application. Wendel’s business card, measuring 107x68mm, near extremely fine condition with light discolouration. He is identified as a Amtsgerichtsrat (district court council) and a Hauptmann (Captain) of the Reserve in Fighter Wing “General Wever”.
