A First War Iron Cross Award Document to Infantry Regiment 76 “Hamburg”
First World War award certificates for Iron Cross 2nd Class, Wehrmann Reincke; Two First World War award certificates for the recipient of an Iron Cross, measuring 209x165mm, near mint condition, and 209x326mm, extremely fine condition with folding creases. The first document is handwritten and dated to Amy near the River Oise in the French region of Picardy, on November 21, 1914. The recipient is named Reincke, his rank is Wehrmann. No first name is given. He served in the 7th Company of the 2nd Battalion of the Reserve Infantry Regiment 76 “Hamburg”. It states that Reincke is awarded the Iron Cross “for bravery in the battle at Bethancourt and Ribecourt”. No class is mentioned. The document is stamped and signed in black ink by Captain and Battalion Leader Heinrich von Wiese und Kaiserswaldau. The second document has a more official character. It identifies the Iron Cross being of 2nd Class, and is dated to the Regiment Staff Quarters on November 12, 1914. The document is stamped and signed in black ink by Colonel and Regiment Commander Ernst Gustav Erdmann von Heynitz (1863–1927). He finished the war as Major General.
