A Large Collection of Documents of SA-Obertruppführer Karl Müller
This is a very fine collection of documents of SA-Obertruppführer Karl Müller that tells an enticing story about an individual joining the NSDAP and SA at an early age, receiving a variety of promotions throughout his paramilitary career. He likely served his military service during that time, and was later conscripted in 1944 to move from the SA into the Wehrmacht service to fight in the war. This collection of documents contains 1) NSDAP Membership Booklet: issued to Karl Müller, born on September 5, 1889 in Borkersheim, living in Gladebeck-Brauck. The booklet was issued on May 1, 1933 and features a his photograph as well as several pages containing membership fee stamps; measuring 134 mm x 105 mm. 2) A Bronze SA-Sport Proficiency Badge Recipient Document; Numbered “744863”; featuring his photograph, basic details, a watermark stamp; as well as four SA examiner stamps; measuring 91 mm x 90 mm. 3) An award certificate, dated August 17, 1943, issued to SA-Haupttruppführer Karl Müller, who was awarded the War Merit Cross Second Class without Swords on January 30, 1943. Signed and stamped by the Sturmbannführer of the SA-Standarte 15. Measuring 209 mm x 151 mm; four neat centered folds. 4) A certificate of participation, dated March 23, 1938, issued to Karl Müller, who participated in the 9th Class in the District School of the NSDAP Gladbeck between February 5 and March 20, 1938. Signed and stamped by the leader of the District School of the NSDAP Gladebeck and the District Leader. Measuring 206 mm x 147 mm; four neat centered folds. 5) A certificate of participation, dated March 26, 1943, issued to Obertruppfüher Karl Müller, who participated in the 8th Class for Marksmen between March 20 and March 26, 1943. Signed and stamped by the Standartenführer. Measuring 206 mm x 147 mm, four neat centered folds. 6) A request, dated November 18, 1944, from Karl Müller, to take a vacation for his “Silberhochzeit” (25-year wedding anniversary); signed by himself (SA-Sturmführer und Hunderstschaftsführer); measuring 206 mm x 146 mm; four neat centered folds. 7) A list of essentials to be packed, titled “Important! Read immediately”; list of miscellaneous items to be packed; list is referred to in the drafting letter; with some items crossed out or checked off; measuring 148 mm x 105 mm; single angled fold near center. 8) An emergency drafting notice from the Mayor of the City of Gladebeck, addressed to SA-Sturmführer Karl Müller (Address: Boystraße 82, Gladebeck), dated September 18, 1944. The letter orders Müller to acquire the items in the attached list, and to immediately report o the NSDAP Group Westfalen, by orders of the Führer, for emergency service; signed, presumably by the Mayor; measuring 148 mm x 207 mm; four neat centered folds, some light fraying along the edges. 9)An SA Leader Document; featuring his photograph; basic information such as unit location, full name and date of birth; folded in half; measuring 128 mm x 85 mm. 10) A basic information sheet of Karl Müller; born September 5, 1889 in Rockershausen, religious, highest education attained - Elementary School, daughter Margarete born November 1, 1925, awards: Iron Cross Second Class, Wound Badge, Hindenburg Cross, War Merit Cross 2nd Class without Swords (January 30, 1943); Entry into the NSDAP (April 1, 1933 as member 2484036); Entry into the SA (April 1, 1933 into Standarte 137); with a full list of promotions with significant dates from SA-Mann to Sturmführer; signed on June 17, 1941 by the Obertruppführer of the SA Sturm 3/15 Gladebeck-Brauck; measuring 293 mm x 208 mm; with four neat creases. 11) A small lot of three miscellaneous papers; small notes undecipherable due to handwriting; with a photograph of him in full uniform; measuring approximately 90 mm x 138 mm (folded). 12) A letter from his daughter in response to Karl Müller’s request to send him his parents’ certified transcripts. She writes that she is unable to do so because the transcripts are not certified by a qualified individual. She is also unable to send her father his Wehrpass; signed in red ink and dated February 14, 1944 in blue ink (slightly faded); measuring 204 mm x 146mm; with two neat folds.
