A Sentimental Letter from an Unnamed German Author to his Classmates Fighting on the Front; July 1943
This letter is addressed to this author’s classmates, and revisits in a romanticized manner, their school time from three and a half years ago. With a sentimental tone, it reads about the camaraderie of the classmates during their school time, and their goodbyes when some of the classmates entered military service to fight the Bolsheviks and Jews. With enthusiasm, the author calls the classmates, who are now separated, to realize the importance of Feldpost. He believes that through regular communication through Feldpost, together they can fight off homesickness and strengthen their motivation to continue fighting this war - even if it means death. The author quotes a line from Heinrich Lersch, “A free German knows no cold “must”, Germany must live, even if we have to die”. The letter measures 293 mm x 207 mm, with three neat folds; crisp lettering, very fine condition.
