The page carries Baur’s rank titles (SS-Oberführer, Flugkapitän des Führers) and signature in blue ink. From the collection of an autograph collector. Footnote: Hans Baur (1897–1993) was Hitler’s personal pilot (since 1933) and close friend, and SS-Gruppenführer and Lieutenant General of the Waffen-SS (since February 24, 1945). He was also the head of the Government Squadron, tasked to provide flights and pilots for Hitler’s cabinet and generals. Hitler was Baur’s best man when he married for the second time. Baur stayed with Hitler in the Führerbunker during the last days of the war until Hitler committed suicide, even though Hitler had suggested he escape by plane. Baur was captured and spent 10 years as a POW in Russia and another 2 in France after that. He was appointed SS-Oberführer on September 9, 1934, and made SS-Brigadeführer in early 1944, which dates this item to post 1934 and pre 1944. Baur was awarded the Iron Cross First Class for bravery in the First War and numerous awards during the Second War.
