An Early War Polish Campaign Luftwaffe Photo Album
A one-of-a-kind photo album of either the Luftwaffe Air Fleet I or Luftwaffe Air Fleet II titled “The Polish Campaign”. This photo album encompasses 58 photographs and portrays military service within a Luftwaffe supporting group during the Polish campaign. This album has a total of 48 pages, with each photo possessing its own caption, and ending abruptly on page 26. The cover is dark green, and measures 27.4 cm x 19.1 cm. In better than fine condition. Footnote: The German invasion of Poland began on September 1, 1939. With a total of 1,500,000 men consisting of 60 divisions, 6 brigades, 9,000 guns, 2,800 tanks, and 2,300 aircraft, the German Wehrmacht invaded Poland and ultimately defeated the Polish resistance within one month. During the campaign, the Luftwaffe Air Fleet I and Luftwaffe Air Fleet II played a large role to provide close air support, as well as in the bombing of Warsaw, where more than 85% of the city was destroyed in the course of the war.
