An SS Soldbuch to Hungarian SS Cavalryman Jeger Sándor, Cavalry Division Maria Theresia

Measures 10.4 x 14.1 cm. Signs of aging, writing has faded in place; An SS-Soldbuch (pay book) for SS-Reiter (cavalryman) Jeger Sándor from Hungary, a member of 22nd SS Volunteer Cavalry Division Maria Theresia. The book has retained some water damage, so certain information is indecipherable; Sándor was born July 22nd, 1928, and, at least at the time of war, not married; His duty station was the SS-Ersatz-Inspektion “Südost” Wien XIII, the SS reserve inspection “south east” in Vienna. He served, among other assignments, in the SS-Feld-Ersatz-Abteilung 8, 1. Schwadron (SS field reserve detachment 8, 1st squadron), and in March of 1945 in the SS-Kavallerie Ausbildungs- und Ersatz-Abteilung, Stammschwadron (SS cavalry drill and reserve detachment, base squadron). Between January 14th and 30th, 1945, he recovered in the Teillazarett (military hospital) Wiesenbad in Saxony, close to modern Germany’s border with the Czech Republic. It is unknown what he suffered from, since the entry only states “31b”. However, on February 7th, 1945 he was awarded the Verwundeten-Abzeichen in Schwarz (black wound badge).
