A pair of award documents for a Kuban Shield, including a primary award document, constructed of off-white paper with black ink, named to Stabsgefreiter Franz Strohmeyer of 13. Kompanie, Jäger-Regiment 204, issued at divisional headquarters on 1 August 1944, featuring a handwritten signature of Generalfeldmarschall Ewald von Kleist (Knight’s Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords), measuring 149 mm (w) x 205 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition, and; Feldpost communiqué addressed to Strohmeyer, constructed of off-white paper with black ink, affirming that he has been awarded the Kuban Shield for bravery in defending the Kuban Bridgehead instructing that an entry also be made in his Soldbuch, dated 3 October 1944 and signed by an unidentified Hauptfeldwebel, measuring 205 mm (w) x 149 mm (h), with minor soiling evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
Footnote: Jäger-Regiment 204 was situated in the vicinity of the Taman Peninsula for the duration of the fighting in the Kuban region in 1943, and was one of the final German units to evacuate the area in October.
