An HJ Proficiency Book, constructed of light-brown, thin cardboard binding, consisting of 32 pages, the exterior front page presents the insignia for the HJ Proficiency Badge, the HJ-styled eagle clutching a sword and hammer, and the title “LEISTUNGSBUCH DER HITLER-JUGEND,” the back cover presents the badge insignia, the contents include the name, birthdate, and address of owner Hans Leuschner as well as information regarding his District/Regiment/Company. Entries confirming Leuschner’s completion of the HJ-Leistungsabzeichen in Silber (HJ Achievement Badge in Silver) appear on page 9 and performance test results for physical education, military training, and ideology appear on page 22 to 24. Entries include hand-writing in black ink and signatures by a “SS.-Oscha.” (SS-Oberscharführer/Senior Squad Leader). The book measures 10.5 cm (w) x 14.7 cm (h), shows mild discoloration and age-appropriate wear, and in very fine condition.
Footnote: Hans Leuschner, born 24 March 1926, joined the HJ 13th Company, 212 Regiment in District 16 on 20 April 1941. After successfully completing exams on 24 May and 25 May 1943, he received the HJ-Leistungsabzeichen in Silber (HJ Achievement Badge in Silver) on 29 May 1943.
