Germany, NSDAP. A Unique Commemorative Case, with Signed AH Photo, to Benno Kuhr
(Erinnerungs-Etui mit Bild und Unterschrift der Führer). A rare and unique commemorative case from the estate of Hof mayor and NSDAP activist Benno Kuhr, constructed of a two-piece lacquered wooden frame secured together with a fully functional magnetic metal hinge, opening with dual silver fixtures on the opposite side, with the interior revealing two sliding wooden planks allowing for a fully adjustable interior arrangement, with the tip of each plank completing in a felt topper to mitigate scratching, the exterior of the lid featuring a complete silver frame retaining an original glass face, the edge of the frame stamped with a silver content number of “800” and illegible silversmith hallmarks, underneath the glass face is a large black-and-white photograph depicting Kuhr in a NSDAP Political Leader’s uniform with an Imperial Iron Cross I Class, Observer’s Badge, and Black Grade Wound Badge clearly visible, depicted alongside AH with SS and Wehrmacht Officers, clearly visible across the lower portion of the photograph is a handwritten blue ink dedication from AH to Kuhr reading “DEN BÜRGERMEISTER BENNO KUHR ZU SEINEM GEBURTSTAG ALS ERINNERUNG AN MEINE BERUF IN HOF 1938, 6. DEZ 1940” (“TO MAYOR BENNO KUHR, AS A MEMENTO OF MY VISIT TO HOF IN 1938, 6 DECEMBER 1940”), completed with the unmistakable signature of AH, the photograph measuring 210 mm (w) x 148 mm (h), the case measuring 290 mm (w) x 238 mm (l) x 50 mm (h), with only minor scratching of the wood and tarnishing of the silver evident, a rare personalized NSDAP memento in extremely fine condition.
