Germany, Ordnungspolizei. A Rare Private Wartime Order Police Eastern Front Album

(Polizeibataillon Ostfront Fotoalbum). A rare and fascinating wartime Ordnungspolizei photo album, constructed of a card stock binding with a faux textured leather exterior liner. The spine is perforated with four eyelets, reinforced with magnetic metal grommets, through which is loop a drawstring that maintains the album’s structural integrity. The lower right corner of the cover bears a silvered inscription of “MEINE KRIEGSERINNERUNGEN” (“MY WAR MEMORIES”). The interior content consists of 24 black card stock pages bearing 96 black-and-white photos affixed in one-sided format. The images open with scenes of Ordnungspolizei personnel assembling at barracks, with depictions of drills and weapons training, encompassing approximately one-third of the album. The remainder features an historically-significant compilation of photos showing “Polizeibataillon” personnel overseeing the forced of Polish civilians to trains for relocation to the General Government, with many presumed destined for use as forced labourers. The album concludes with depictions of Ordnungspolizei personnel themselves in transit and assembling for review with weapons. Unmarked, the album measures 32.5 cm (w) x 23 mm (h). Demonstrating no damage or loss of photos, it is in an extremely fine condition.
