Germany, RAD. A Commemorative Service Book and Photo Album

A Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD) commemorative service book and photo album, constructed of a card stock binding, the cover bearing a black-and-white photo of RAD personnel on parade, above a title of “WIR VOM ARBEITSGAU X” (“WE OF LABOUR DISTRICT X”), the interior featuring 63 glossed paginated pages detailing the activities of life in the RAD, supplemented by many black-and-white photos, followed by a number of plain non-paginated pages to which the owner has pasted 53 black-and-white images including group photos, depictions of leisure time, and guard and service duties, most with handwritten captions and notably featuring the names of his comrades, dated from 17 April 1940 and continuing through the spring and summer, the book measuring 175 mm (w) x 245 mm (h), with material fatigue evident to the cover and some fatigue to the binding, an interesting and personalized account of RAD service in overall very fine condition.
