Germany, Third Reich. A Complete German Uniform Cigarette Album, by Sturm Cigarette Company
(Deutsche Uniformen Zigaretten-Album). A very well-preserved and complete “Deutsche Uniformen Album: SA SS HJ” (“German Uniform Album: SA SS HJ”), a cigarette card album produced by the Sturm Cigarette Factory in 1933. It is constructed of a card stock binding, with the cover bearing a full-colour and richly-detailed title, flanked by an embossed German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The interior content consists of 40 paginated card stock pages, each pasted with six full-colour illustrations of uniforms of the Sturmabteilung, Schutzstaffel, and HJ, above brief descriptions in Fraktur script. Each of these pages is separated by an intact wax paper divider. An additional 12 paginated paper pages feature brief descriptions of the branch service from which the images are derived. The album measures 285 mm (w) x 245 mm (h). It is accompanied by a period original parcel box, retaining a Sturm label and addressed to “FRITZ HAASE”. Minor material fatigue and discolouration are evident to both the album and box, but this desirable and complete set is in an overall better than very fine condition.
